Tony Cousins 

After about 17 years managing construction and civil engineering projects in the United Kingdom, Tony and his fiancée embarked on a new adventure and purchased the historic Island Hotel in Cedar Key.  They owned and operated that fine old establishment for nearly 7 years, improving both the real estate and the dining room reputation as well as learning invaluable lessons in customer satisfaction.  After the birth of their daughter, Samantha, the Hotel was finally sold in 2003 and Tony began his career in real estate.

Tony began as a Home Inspector, with a 9 month furlough as Construction Director for the largest custom home builder in the area before getting his Real Estate license.  He joined Coldwell Banker and partnered with Jean Chalmers, (former Commissioner and Mayor of Gainesville) for 2 ½ years.  In December of 2008 Tony earned his Community Association Managers license from the State.

Throughout his time in Real Estate, Tony had a strong relationship with Matchmaker Realty, and when Scott & Gia mentioned at a meeting that they were forming an Association Management Division within Matchmaker the time seemed right to join forces.

So now, not only does Tony hold both a real estate Brokers’ and a Community Association Manager (CAM) license, but he also holds the highest level of construction license as a Certified General Contractor.  These are in addition to a State Radon license and his background as a Home Inspector.  These strengths all combine to give Tony unique knowledge that he brings to the table in representing you.

In his spare time, Tony serves on the Alachua County Commissioners Code Enforcement Board, the Gainesville & Alachua County Board of Realtors (GACAR) Building Committee and the Property Management Committee.  On weekends, you will often find Tony Mountain biking with friends and family or at home in the Jonesville area with his wife, Dawn, daughter, Sammy plus 3 horses, 3 dogs and 2 cats!
